Police updates from Cheadle and the Staffordshire Moorlands

A serious road traffic collision took place in Caverswall on Tuesday, July 22.

The collision involved two vehicles, a blue scooter and a black Mercedes Sprinter, and happened at around 6.45am in Roughcote Lane.

The scooter rider, a 20-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

On Monday, July 22, there was a collision on Cheadle Road near to its junction with the A522 Leek Road in Wetley Rocks.

Police, Fire and Ambulance were called to the collision at 3.20pm where a red Citroen Picasso had lost control and over turned trapping the occupants and leaking fuel into the road.

On Police arrival the occupants had already freed themselves. 

The vehicle was being driven by a 74 year old male from Stoke-on-Trent and he had his 12-year-old granddaughter in the vehicle who was treated at the scene by paramedics for shock. 

However thankfully both were uninjured and the road was cleared by 4pm.

During the early hours of Sunday, July 20, on Lid Lane, Cheadle, a litter bin was set on fire and destroyed. There have been a few issues of anti social behaviour reported in the area over the last few weeks. Anyone with information please call 101 and quote VDU 454 of 20/07/2014.

Overnight Saturday, July 19, into the early hours Sunday, July 20, unknown offenders have damaged a number of plants and planters on High Street, Cheadle, and some conifers have been stolen. These have all been planted by volunteers from Cheadle In Bloom. PC Stubbs from Cheadle Police is asking for anyone with information or any witnesses to the theft and damage to please come forward by calling 101 and quoting VDU 0286. PC Stubbs said: "I would appeal for anyone who has information to please come forward. This has caused much upset to the volunteers on Cheadle In Bloom who put a lot of their own time and effort into making Cheadle an attractive place to live and visit."

At approximately11pm on FridayJuly, 18, police were called to reports of a fight at The Wheatsheaf, High Street, Cheadle. On arrival it was found that one of the door supervisors had been assaulted by a male who had left the scene prior to police arrival. PC 990 Davies is appealing for any witnesses to contact him on 101 quote VDU 935 of 19/07/2014.

Between 8am and 8.30am on Thursday, July 17, a Silver and Red Trek 3900D mountain bike was stolen from outside an address on Vicarage Road, Tean, by an unknown offender. Any witnesses please contact PC Stubbs call 101 VDU 395 of 17th July 2014.

Between Friday, July 18, and Sunday, July 20, a white Saracen mountain bike with blue lettering was stolen from the rear garden of a house on Quarry Close, Werrington. Any witnesses please call 101 VDU 576 of 20th July 2014.

At 7.50pm on Monday, July 14, a drive off occurred at MPK garage, Brookhouses Service Station, The Green, Cheadle, where £73.65 worth petrol was taken.
