A police helicopter was out in Leek torespond to a suspicius incident

Comments (0) POLICE have confirmed that a helicopter circling over Leek two weeks ago was related to a suspicious incident.


The helicopter was on hand to help search for two men who had been seen acting suspiciously in Leek town centre in Derby Street on Wednesday, July 24.

They had run off after being confronted by officers.

A spokesman from Staffordshire Police said the aircraft was called in after they tried to escape.

He said: “We received a report about a suspicious incident involving two males acting suspiciously in Derby Street, Leek, just after 9.20pm on July 24.

“They subsequently ran off after officers approached them and as a result a ground and aerial search was carried out over various streets in and around the locality which achieved a negative result and officers didn't find of arrest anyone.

“We did receive a call from a resident in Lowther Place in Leek reporting that he had disturbed someone in his garden and had chased him up Trafford Close.

“But it didn't result in any positive arrest.”
