Police have confirmed that a gun was involved in an incident in Leek

A Leek man has been arrested in connection with an incident involving a BB gun in the town in which two other males were threatened.

A police helicopter was spotted circling around the rooftops of Leek for a several hours on Monday evening.

Armed police, along with a police dog, were also spotted in Novi Lane at around 9pm.

Staffordshire Police has confirmed that the incident did involve the deployment of a force helicopter and that a 19-year-old man had since been arrested.

A spokesman said: “We were alerted to an incident in the Leonard Street area of Leek at approximately 7.30pm on Monday, September 1, after two men were threatened by another man.

“Officers carried out a detailed area search which included deploying a police helicopter to the area.”

The spokesman also confirmed today (Tuesday, September 2): “We can confirm that a BB gun was seen during the incident. No-one was injured.

“A 19-year-old man from Leek has been arrested in connection with the incident and is still in custody.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
