Police appeal for information following a number of crimes in Cheadle

CHEADLE Police have issued the following updates and appeals for information following a number of incidents in and around Cheadle recently.

At approximately 5am on Sunday 13th April police were called to an address in Tape Street, Cheadle, after reports that a male visitor was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave and that he had caused damage at the property.

On arrival police officers were confronted by a violent male who assaulted two police officers who then had to use a Taser to subdue the male.

Both officers, who are based at Cheadle, have sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

A 27-year-old male, Callum Brereton, from Crewe, has been charged with assault on the two police officers and criminal damage.

At 8pm Saturday 12th April PC Dave Stubbs, of Cheadle Police, was called to ASDA, Ashbourne Road, Cheadle, following a theft.

A description of the male offender was given and a search of the town located the male in a vehicle.

The male was detained and searched and a quantity of cannabis was also found.

A 17-year-old male from Cheadle was arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance.

He has been bailed until end of April pending further inquiries.

Pc Stubbs said; "This was reported to me via the Cheadle Police Twitter Account as the supervisor from the ASDA was following me on twitter and was aware I was on duty in the area at the time the offence occurred.

"Although I would ask members of the public to use the 101 or 999 system to report crimes to Police this shows that Police use of social media tools does work and it is a useful tool to get information out to the public.

Sometime during the night of Friday 11th and Staurday12th April a Grey BMW parked in Charles Street, Cheadle, has been keyed all down the side. Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to please contact PC 5242 Dave Stubbs at Cheadle Police on 101 quoting VDU 517 of 12/04/14.

At approximately 7.20am on Monday 14th April in Cheadle Road, Cheddleton, a male was disturbed following a break in at the allotments and tools were stolen.

Other sheds at the allotments has also been entered and eggs broken and stolen.

A chicken was also found dead at the scene but it is not known if this was connected to the break ins.

Any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Cheadle Police on 101 quoting VDU 133 of 14/04/2014.

A white van was broken into on Froghall Road, Cheadle, over night Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15, and a Dewalt drill, tile cutter and plaster mixer have been stolen.

If anyone has any information please contact PC 5242 Dave Stubbs at Cheadle Police on 101.

Police were called to a report of a break-in at Brookhouse service station, The Green, Cheadle, just before 1am on Monday 21 April.

Officers attended and discovered offenders had forced entry and stolen a large quantity of cigarettes from within.

The service station remained closed until a forensic examination had been carried out at the scene.

An investigation into the burglary in underway and anyone with information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 27 of April 21.
