Over 3,000 people have signed a petition to save the historical features of Leek’s college building.

Plans to redevelop Leek College were approved late last year by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. This includes the demolition of the Carr Gymnasium building, but people are trying to save the facade of Carr Gymnasium and keep its historical features in their present location.

It was designed by architect William Sugden in approximately 1898 and has a historical ceiling and a façade. Although Len Tildsley, the Leek College principal, has confirmed that they will be retained in the proposed development, she has stated that they won’t remain at the same location.
