FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings after Uruguay striker Luis Suarez appeared to bite Giorgio Chiellini during their latest World Cup 2014 game against Italy.

If he is found guilty, he could face a ban of up to 24 matches. Suarez has previously been banned over similar incidents, this being his third, and received a 17 game suspension for the two occurrences.

We want to know what you think should happen to Luis Suarez so take part in our poll below and let us know.

Isn't it funny how assaulting someone in the street is a criminal offence but assaulting someone on a football pitch isn't.

boysim34: if you did and you were, you could blame The Sentinel who actively encouraged (26th June) this disgusting behaviour, a fine example to youngsters (and morons).

Suarez is a persistent cheat who is not worthy of cleaning Lionel Messi's boots! Bans for two previous biting incidents clearly haven't worked, give him an international ban by all means, but an across the board ban would, in my opinion, unfairly penalise his club. So I think the best punishment would be to make him wear a muzzle in all future matches. That would be suitably humiliating! The Italian FA should also take action on behalf of their player to have Suarez prosecuted for ABH. Also agree with Marcespley, that he should be prosecuted for ABH.

Simple. He should be barred from entering our country ever again.

This tournament is certainly hitting the headlines, mostly for all the wrong reasons. Before a ball was kicked the corruption surrounding people at the top as to bribes of a future World Cup venue. The referee standards not being what we have come to expect. England's demise as a rated football team at an all time low. Now this. Appalling standards of behaviour and conduct that leave the game in disrepute. Now is the time for the governing body to act and send out the message, Ban him for 2 years and either disqualify Uruguay from the competition or make them play the game again. This was done to get a reaction from the defender in the hope of bite going unnoticed and a penalty in his favour being awarded. At that time of the incident Uruguay needed to score to qualify and Suarez was prepared to stoop to any level to achieve that. A step to far for most people. He should have been sent off, a different outcome to the game might well have been different, as Italy were already down to 10 men. So someone should be paying the ultimate penalty. Ban him and replay the game. or do we want the cheats to win. Which they will do without going the whole way. Might sound extreme, but if you played for the other side or if that had been England, i could well imagine a similar outcry.

He should serve a life-time ban and if he ever tries to enter the UK, slap him straight in to quarantine for Rabies checks!

I love how they say "Allegedly" reviewing the video the Hoofmeistersorry Suarez moved to the Defenders shoulder and purposly bit him. The ban should not just be international matches but 24 match ban across the board.
