JCB has won an order for more than £6.5 million worth of diggers and materials handling machines from a leading UK plant hire company.

The news comes days after the company reported its third highest earnings in its 68 year history at £313 million and as it reported that the UK construction equipment market is currently the fastest growing in the world, up 50% so far this year.

Award-winning Lancashire hire firm Buckhurst Specialist Plant has ordered a fleet of 25 backhoe loaders and 100 JCB Loadall telescopic handlers, all made at the World HQ in Rocester. The company runs 2000 machines in total from its bases in Lancashire, Leeds, West Lothian and a brand new depot in Aberdeen. It supplies plant and equipment nationwide to the construction, groundworks and utilities industries.

Buckhurst Specialist Plant Chairman John Walsh said: “We feel it is the right time to make this sizeable investment and capitalise on the definite upturn we have seen in groundworks projects as more and more new build sites appear. The new machines expand our nationwide fleet and will also increase our presence in the Scottish Highlands – stocking our recently opened a site in Aberdeen.

“We are one of the few companies in our sector to have ridden the storm and actually grown over the last five years - by guaranteeing our customers great service along with reliable, state-of-the-art equipment. This order for the latest JCB technology will only help reinforce that promise.”

Founded in 1993, in Waterfoot in Lancashire, Buckhurst Specialist Plant has grown to offer nearly 2000 pieces of plant and equipment to customers across the UK. The business recently appeared in the London Stock Exchange Group ‘1000 companies to inspire Britain’ - a celebration of some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK. It was also recently crowned Best Plant Hire Firm in the North West construction industry’s Grafters awards and was confirmed in the fastest growing 50 businesses in the region.
