ON MONDAY, February 17th, the ladies of Orford WI met for the last time before closing.

We are all sorry to close but there are now not enough members to carry on.

It is nearly 40 years since we were formed with 70 members and we have enjoyed many social occasions and outings, and in the early years were proud to win prizes at Leek Show.

We were very pleased to welcome Margaret Bailey to our last gathering and a very enjoyable supper was served by committee members

Mrs Norma Twigg thanked the committee for all their hard work over the years and President Cecilia Rowley thanked the committee and all members for their support during the years she had been in office

The following was composed and read out by Cynthia Owen to end our evening. Well ladies we meet for the very last time So let us toast ourselves with a glass of wine. Over the years we've had some fun With all the things we have done. Our day trips were the best without doubt don't be late for the bus Barbara would shout. We've munched our way through many Christmas menus Which were held at various venues. All these years we have all been mates Caring and kindness is all it takes So many things have given us pleasure And we have many memories to treasure. So when you are out and about Hold your head up high And proudly say I was a member of Orford W.I. With all good wishes to the W.I s in Staffordshire Federation.
