Prospective residents have been finding out about a new housing development for the elderly in Leek.

Daisy Haye, the new 88 apartment Extra Care development by Your Housing Group, on Ball Haye Road, will be opening its doors in the coming months.

An open day was held at the neighbouring Brough Park Leisure Centre, giving prospective residents the chance to find out more about the development.

Daisy Haye is being built as part of the Ascent programme – the partnership between Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and Your Moorlands – and is due to open this summer.

It will include a bistro, hairdresser, a communal lounge, laundrette, and a multi-functional activity room.

Both the hairdresser and bistro will also be open for use by residents from the wider area.

A spokesperson for the development said: "Once completed, the new apartments will allow those over 55 to live an active life independently for longer, in a safe and secure development full of like-minded people. Designed with the individual in mind, the support team will provide help and support that is flexible to meet their needs, providing a safe and secure environment and most importantly, giving residents peace of mind.

"Currently there is still the opportunity for interested residents to snap up their own apartment within Daisy Haye, with prices starting at £120,000 for an apartment to purchase, or from £60,000 for shared ownership plus rent."
