An olympic gold medallist from the Staffordshire Moorlands will be helping to start a marathon this weekend.

Anna Watkins, from Longsdon near Leek, will be joined by her rowing team mate Katherine Grainger in starting the London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday.

The duo, who won rowing's double sculls gold at London 2012, will then join the 36,000 runners in taking part in the 26.2 mile race themselves.

Anna, who had her first child William in September, will be competing as part of a squad of runners raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
