A SCHOOL in the Staffordshire Moorlands has been closed after an oil spillage.
Cicely Haughton School in Wetley Rocks, closed today (Tuesday, January 21) after an incident of spilled heating oil.
The school, which offers day and residential places to pupils aged five to 11 years whose primary need is BESD (Behaviour, Emotional and Social Difficulties), is closed until the spillage has been cleared.
A spokesman for Staffordshire County Council said: “There has been a spillage of heating oil at the school, contained within the school grounds.
“Health and Safety officers are currently assessing the implications of this, and as a precaution the school has been closed to pupils and staff to allow these to be completed.
“Alternative arrangements are in place for pupils, with a re-opening date to be determined.
“The safety of pupils and staff at the school is our primary concern, and the school will reopen when we are sure the spillage has been completely cleared.”
