LEEK CSOB were left kicking the heels yet again at the weekend because of the atrocious weather.

The Old Boys were due to play Ashton Town away in the North West Counties League First Division but were foiled by a waterlogged pitch.

League leaders Nelson celebrated their return to action after an absence of four weeks with a comfortable 6-0 win at Widnes Vikings.

The visitors led 2-0 after only 11 minutes. Robert Grimes opened the scoring in the sixth minute and then an own goal quickly extended Nelson's lead.

Adnan Ahmed scored Nelson's third goal early in the second half before Peter Wright (78mins), Robert Grimes (84) and Danny Mahoney (90) completed the scoring.

The result opened up a seven point gap on second placed Formby, but the Squirrels have three games in hand on their title rivals.
