MEMBERS of the Cheadle Methodist Ladies Get-Together group are busy preparing for their 'Getting Ready for Christmas' coffee morning which will be held in the Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, November 16, between 10am – noon. As well as enjoying a cup of coffee or tea you will be able to buy from the many stalls selling gifts, cards and Christmas wrapping, books and cakes. There will also be a Fairtrade stall.
A CHARITY fashion show is being staged in Cheadle tonight (Wednesday, November 13). The fund-raiser, which will take place at The Guild Hall in Tape Street, has been organised by the Scouts to raise funds for their Kenya Project. The clothes on show will be from High Street stores and there will be many items half price. The sizes on offer will be from eight to 26. CHEADLE town councillor and former mayor Margaret Locker is recovering at home after being taken ill. Mrs Locker was taken ill suddenly on Friday November 1 and was taken to the University Hospital in Stoke. She was allowed home last Friday after spending a week in the hospital. Her husband, Ron, told the Post & Times this week that she was now getting better and convalescing at home. Mr Locker said: “Margaret is now getting better and is happy to be back at home. “She was extremely well looked after in hospital and we would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes, cards and flowers. We were planning to go out as she was taken ill on the Friday evening.” A CHORAL group will be in full voice in their home town this weekend.
The Pugin Singers choir of Cheadle have chosen to mark Remembrance Day by hosting a concert at St Giles the Abbot Church, Cheadle on Saturday, November 16, at 7.30pm. It will include Ralph Vaughan- Williams, Dona Nobis Pacem, Choir and piano, Brass and Percussion, Gabriel Fauré, Requiem, Choir and organ. CHEADLE Buffs will again be holding their Annual Quiz Night at Cheadle Cricket Club, on Friday November 15, starting at 8pm. Questions will range from General Knowledge, Music, Television, Sport and numerous other categories. The Sir William Plant Lodge of the R.A.O.B. raise money for all local charity organisations so you will be supporting your local community by showing support to this event. Teams will consist of four people, £4 per person which includes a Pie and Pea Supper, a raffle will be held during the evening with plenty of prizes to be had, so please come and support this annual event.
