AN INFORMAL church service is being staged at a town centre church this weekend. 'Faith At Five' will take place at St Edward's Church in Leek on Sunday, November 24. Starting at 5pm and running for an hour, the event, suitable for all ages, will include games, crafts, prayers and songs. To include a Bring and Share sandwich and cake tea. All very welcome.

A LEEK author will be visiting his town's library next week to sign copies of his second solo book about the market town. Neil Collingwood has written 'Leek Through The Ages' which follows 'Leek through Time' which he published last year. Neil will be at Leek Library on Wednesday, November 27, between 10am and 2pm. Signed copies of the book will be available for £11.99 at the event, although the cover price is £14.99.

A VILLAGE church will be the venue for a Christmas Fair this weekend. The fund-raiser will take place on Saturday, November 23, at 2pm at St Matthew's Church in Meerbrook. Admission will be £1 per person which will include a mince pie and hot drink. There will be a host of festive stalls, Santa's Pantry, Pam's Plants, as well as a visit from Santa. All welcome.

A FESTIVAL of Lights is to take place in the village of Onecote this weekend. Villagers are now busy finalising designs for Christmas trees which will be situated in St Luke's Church. The event will start on Friday November 22 at 6.30pm when Christmas carols will be sung and mince pies and mull wine served. On Saturday and Sunday, November 23 and 24, the church will be open between 11am and 4pm for visitors. All the trees will be decorated by members of the local community. Organisers hope to have around 20 trees on show. On Saturday night a buffet safari will be held when people travel around five different location for each course. The event is by ticket only and these can be obtained by calling (01538) 304334; 304218 or 304539.

HAVE Your Say on the future of Play Areas and Open Spaces in Haregate on Wednesday, November 20, from 3pm to 7pm at Haregate Community Centre. This is a drop-in session for residents to view proposals for improving play facilities and open spaces in Haregate and have their say on what the priorities should be for the future. This event is open to everyone, and children and parents are particularly welcome. Refreshments provided.
