A NEW ‘Support Staffordshire’ service has been launched for the voluntary and community sector.
Voluntary and community organisations across Staffordshire will soon notice ‘Support Staffordshire’ branches open in their area as seven Councils for Voluntary Service join forces to form the largest independent sector support body in the county.
Staffordshire Moorlands Community and Voluntary Services is one of the first Support Staffordshire branches to rebrand and revealed the new look to local groups at its AGM last Wednesday.
Chief Officer, Jill Norman said: "Like many charities, support bodies have been hit hard by spending cuts and this has instigated a radical shake-up of how we use resources to better support front-line groups.
"CVS' coming together, working as one, will bring many benefits to our combined membership of 700 organisations across Staffordshire."
The county wide service has been 18 months in development, made possible by government funding, delivered through the BIG Fund, to modernise and transform support services for both voluntary organisations and active citizens.
Through its network of local branches, Support Staffordshire will offer customers a consistent experience regardless of where they are based.
Access to support will be streamlined through a new central helpline – 0300 777 1207 – providing advice on funding, volunteering, training and organisational development services.
All branches will be re branded by December by which time a new website (www.supportstaffordshire.org.uk) and a suite of business services will also be in place.
Jill added: "I want to reassure our local community and strategic partners that our commitment to Staffordshire Moorlands remains unchanged and you will continue to be served by our team of professionally qualified and highly experienced community experts.
"This transformation enables us to bring you all the benefits of a county wide organisation whilst maintaining our local focus.
"We hope you will continue your journey with us, we're excited about the opportunities for us all."
