A new rock night is coming to the Staffordshire Moorlands.
The classic rock nights, initially entitled 'Leek Rocks', will be staged at the newly-refurbished and renamed Old Central in Market Street, Leek with the first event on Friday October 10.
Organiser of the new 'Leek Rocks' nights is Steve Hammersley, who also co-runs the not-for-profit Situation events at the Foxlowe Arts Centre, which promote a multitude of original talent within the area.
Steve said of the new rock slot for Leek: "It is going to be Classic Rock tunes from 70's, 80's 90's and maybe one or two newer tunes such as by the likes of Kings Of Leon and Black Keys.
"The event will be held in the upstairs function room at The Old Central. We haven't made the final decision on the name for the new rock nights yet but it may be something like Central Rocks or Rock Central and the main banner for the events will be 'Leek Rocks'.
"The first rock night will be held on Friday, October 10, with the following event planned for Friday, November 8.
"These two nights will be DJ nights with me and Dave Heathen on the decks.
"Then in December we are going to do a 'Leek Rocks Live' with both DJs and rock bands.
"We are also looking to get some guest DJs including a guy from Planet Rock Radio.
"We are going to be having membership and offering reduced entry and drinks offers to members."
