A NEW police commander has been appointed for the Staffordshire Moorlands.
Inspector Jonathan Ward, who was previously a detective sergeant based in Hanley, is the new commander for Staffordshire Moorlands District Local Policing Team.
He is taking up the role as Chief Inspector Claire Riley, previously the commander for Staffordshire Moorlands, has been promoted to the new commander for Newcastle Borough Local Policing Team.
The two moves in policing roles come as Staffordshire Police announce a change in a total of eight inspectors and chief inspectors across the county.
Assistant Chief Constable Julian Blazeby, responsible for local policing in Staffordshire, said: "The local commanders will work closely with communities and partners to deal with what matters to them.
"They will be the recognisable and visible faces leading local policing from right across the county and city, across each council area in Staffordshire.
"They will be responsible for ensuring the best possible service to our communities and preventing crime and disorder."
The changes also see Chief Inspector Jane Hewett as the new commander for Stafford Borough Local Policing Team (LPT) - Jane was previously a detective chief inspector in the force's Investigative Services department; Chief Inspector Donna Gibbs is the new commander for Tamworth Borough Local Policing Team, after achieving promotion - Donna was previously the commander for South Staffordshire LPT; Inspector Geoff Knight is the new commander for South Staffordshire LPT - Geoff was previously the deputy LPT commander for Cannock District; Inspector Rachel Joyce is the new commander for Lichfield LPT - Rachel's previous role was a detective inspector in the force's Investigative Services department; Chief Inspector Martin Brereton is the commander for Stoke-on-Trent Central LPT, after achieving promotion - he was previously acting chief inspector in the same role; and Chief Inspector Amanda Davies is the new commander for Stoke-on- Trent South LPT - Amanda's previous role was in the force's Cadre.
Meanwhile, Chief Inspectors Steve Maskrey, Carl Ratcliffe and Adrian Roberts remain the LPT commanders at East Staffordshire, Cannock Chase and Stoke-on-Trent North respectively.
