A MODERN take on the traditional nativity story will be performed at a city entertainment venue this month.
Mitchell Arts Centre in Hanley together with HSL Entertainment will be bringing to stage a high level amateur production of 'Rock Nativity', a hugely enjoyable musical version of the Christmas story.
Rock Nativity is a fantastic show for the whole family, giving a contemporary and realistic view of this extraordinary event, accompanied by a superb pop-rock-gospel score.
The show is suitable for both young and old audience members, giving an account of the series of events that took place leading to the birth of Christ as in the Bible, but set in a modern musical setting combining both traditional Christmas Carols with toe tapping music. This is also the first time that Mitchell Arts Centre is producing its own Christmas show in partnership with HSL Entertainment.
It will be bringing in a top creative team from the area, as well as some West End talent to ensure high level of production. The event will also raise much needed funds for the youth activities of the Mitchell Arts Centre charity.
Director Geoff Legan said: "It is great to be involved in such a new and exciting venture as creating the first 'in-house' production at the Mitchell Arts Centre.
"We have assembled a talented and experienced production and technical team and our hope is that we will attract the best of talent, both locally and from further afield, for what, we hope, will be the first of many such productions."
'Rock Nativity' will be performed at The Mitchell Arts Centre on Monday, December 16 to Saturday, December 21 at 7pm, and there will also be matinee performances on Saturday, December 21 and Sunday, December 22.
Tickets are priced at £12 for adults, £10 for concessions, and £8 for school and scout groups.
