AS PART of NFU Mutual's ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of horses, the rural insurer's office in Leek will be opening its doors to anyone who is able to donate much-needed equipment to the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust.

The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust is desperately seeking emergency supplies to help care for the animals it helps look after, and is appealing for people to donate items such as bandages, dressings, head collars and girths, which it can take to Gambia.

Alan Dickinson, Agent at NFU Mutual in Leek, said: "As the UK's leading rural insurer, NFU Mutual understands that horses and donkeys are part of the fabric of rural life and it is therefore important to us to be able to assist with equine rehabilitation and welfare.

"All donations will be gratefully received, no matter how big or small."

Many working horses and donkeys in Gambia suffer as a result of improper care, poor nutrition and poor management due to a combination of poverty, neglect and lack of knowledge.

If you have any of the unwanted items listed below, why not visit your local NFU Mutual office on Brook Street, Leek, and make a donation to help fight poverty and support working horses and donkeys in Gambia.

Items requested for donation:

• Pony headcollars;

• Pony bits;

• Pony girths;

• Gamgee;

• Cotton wool;

• Bandages;

• Dressings;

• Iodine;

• Hibiscrub.

Please visit www.nfumutual.co.uk/gambia for further details about the initiative and donating items.
