A GRIPPING tale of murder is to be portrayed at village centre.

Live & Local presents 'The Tell Tale Heart' at the Swythamley Centre on Monday (February 3) at 7.45pm.

Little Earthquake Theatre Company have a penchant for unearthing unusual stories and re-telling them in a creative, quirky way that always elicits the active imagination of the audience. Edgar Allan Poe's gripping tale of murder in the dark is performed by one actor and an on-stage sound artist, creating clever live sound effects and music.

The story is set in the heart of a bustling city, where a wealthy recluse hides behind a barricade of bolted doors and blacked out windows. His only companion is his private nurse, entrusted with taking care of him.

After many months of confinement, suspicion and resentment grow between the pair until the nurse decides to dispose of the patient. When the deed is done, the silence of the empty housed is shattered by a curious thumping from under the floorboards...

Funny and scary in equal measure, this show will please anyone who likes a good old fashioned horror movie, crime novel or detective drama. It uses the power of suggestion, without spilling a single drop of blood, so those of a nervous disposition need not look away.

This show is suitable for adults and older children (12 plus). Tickets, priced at £8 for adults and £6 for under 16s, are available from Janet by calling her on 07814 582741. The licensed bar will be open from 7.15pm
