A SCHOOLGIRL has raised cash for charity with a little help from her friends.

Twelve-year-old Megan Barnes and her friends from school organised a Cake Sale, on Friday.

The fund-raiser took place at The Church House in Brown Edge.

It raised cash in aid of the national appeal Children In Need.

One of the fund-raising group's parents, Hilary Evans, said: "As parents and friends we are very proud of the group of our local youngsters.

"The event took place on an inset day off from school where the 10 school friends, organised by Megan Barnes, planned, baked and hosted a wonderful event in Brown Edge Church House in aid of Children in Need.

"Lots of local friends, residents and parents came along to support the children who raised a massive £153.

"All of the group now attend Endon High School, Year Eight, but are all but two residents of Brown Edge and ex-pupils of St Annes' Primary School.

"We think they are such thoughtful young people for carrying out this fund-raising event."
