FORMER high school students are gearing up hold a reunion.
Students who attended Leek High School from 1975 to 1980, along with those who attended from 1974 to 1979, will be having a get-together at The Central Club, Market Street, Leek, on October 25.
Daryl Biddulph, who lives in Cheddleton is one of those students who attended between 1975 and 1980. He said: “There are two reasons why we have decided to organise this reunion.
“Firstly, to support a fantastic charity that is Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that has probably affected us all at some point in our lives be it through family or friends.
“And secondly a reunion has been muttered about for a while, so I thought that with this year being when we will all be hitting 50, why not make a big effort and do it this year? “So I got the venue and the DJ, who have both given their time and effort free to support the charity.
“It then came to light the school year above ours – 1974-79 – were also organising a reunion so I got together with Jayson Hodgkinson, who is organising theirs, and we agreed it made sense to make this a joint reunion and a joint effort to not only have a fantastic night but to raise even more money for a fantastic charity.
“Jayson has organised a live band for the night in The Downloads, so fingers crossed we are set for a memorable evening catching up with old school friends who we have probably not seen since we all left school way back in May 1980, when I think Dexys Midnight Runners topped the charts and West Ham won The FA Cup.” The reunion will be from 7pm until 12.30am. Tickets are £5 and are available from Daryl Biddulph via Facebook.
