A WOMAN needed hospital treatment after being assaulted during a robbery on the edge of a Moorlands village.

Last Thursday evening, January 16, at 10.30pm, two males approached a pair of people who were sitting in a car at the Rudyard Lake Miniature Railway car park, on the entrance to the village from Leek.

The offenders were trying to steal mobile telephones but the victims, one male and one female, had not got one on them at the time.

Both the male and the female in the car were then punched and kicked, which led to the female going for treatment at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

A police spokesman said: "Both the offenders had their faces covered with scarves and hoods.

"There were wearing dark clothing and had local accents. They were also on foot in the car park."

Following the assault the offenders left the scene and nothing was stolen.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact DC Stones at Staffordshire Police on its 101 number. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
