Drivers are advised the M6 will be closed tonight between junction 16 and 15 to allow cranes to remove three lorries from the embankment after an incident earlier today.
One lorry was transporting two others when the incident happened near junction 16 in the early hours of this morning. Due to the size of the vehicles specialist equipment will be needed to remove them safely, which will necessitate the closure of the carriageway from 2145 until 0600 Saturday morning.
Neil Taylor, Operations Manager for the Highways Agency in the West Midlands said:
“Safety must always come first and the very size and weight of these vehicles means we have no option but to close the motorway southbound between junction 16 to 15.
“Drivers will be able to use a well established diversion on to the A500 before rejoining the motorway at junction 15. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
