A FUND-RAISING organisation is turning to music to raise further funds.
On Saturday (September 21) at 7.30 pm, the Lions Club of Leek will be presenting an Evening of Song with The Dalesmen Male Voice Choir at Ipstones Memorial Hall.
Lynda Demaid-Jones of the Lions Club said: "This is a new venture for us, but we know we are in safe hands."
The Dalesmen Male Voice Choir was formed in 1987 by a small band of enthusiasts in the Derbyshire Dales, the main aim being to enjoy singing together and to add to the musical life of the area. Since that time the choir has grown into a highly successful group of choristers from many areas of Derbyshire.
Over the years their reputation and popularity have grown; they now perform around thirty events annually supporting a wide range of charities and organisations.
Together with their soloists they travel the length and breadth of the country and have even toured the Dordogne region of France.
Lynda said: "On Saturday night we will be able to sit and listen to a varied programme of music performed a very high standard.
"I have had heard first-class reviews for this choir and I have also heard their music on CD.
It's going to be a great concert." Tickets for the concert are priced at £6 each and available by calling Lynda on 01538 387843 or her mobile 07772 047777 or Les on 07790 389241. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available during the interval.
The concert is being supported by Staffordshire County Council.
Lynda added: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank councillors Gill Heath, Charlotte Atkins and Mike Worthington for arranging this. All monies raised from the concert will be distributed to local worthy causes."
