A FILM based on Oakamoor's fabled Chained Oak has caught the attention of one of the UK's largest independent film festival.
'The Legend of The Chained Oak', written by local author Dan Weatherer, has been selected to kick off the Portobello Film Festival's horror night this September.
Filmed last September on a meagre budget of £500 the short film, which was co-produced by Dan alongside Dean Maynard, has captured the imagination of festival organisers worldwide. Having already scooped the award for Best UK Short at this year's Stoke Film festival, it is possible that the piece could still attract more awards.
"To get recognition from a festival as significant as Portobello is an amazing achievement," said Dan.
"When we began filming we never had any notions about film festivals or awards, we just wanted to tell a story based on a legend that so many of us grew up hearing about.
"It was the first time that many of the cast and crew had worked on a film, myself included. I am pleased for the team, it is a testament to their hard work and I hope that they all enjoy their moment in the spotlight."
The film premiere's on Wednesday September 3. For more information visit www.portobellofilmfestival.com
