A town centre event in Leek today has been hailed a success despite the wet weather.
Leek’s first ever LeekFest took place today (Bank Holiday Monday) and saw a whole host of activities for all the family, lining the town’s main shopping area of Derby Street.
All children’s activities, except for the Helter Skelter, were free of charge including juggling, balance rope, hola hoops, and other circus themed activities, along with a soft play area and a climbing wall.
For the adults, there was live music in the middle of Derby Street from a stage situated in between The Roebuck and The Cock pubs.
Tables and chairs were laid out for revellers to sit and enjoy refreshment as well as listen to the music and there was also an array of locally produced and created wares on sale and for sale as part of the Totally Locally Market which was part of the event.
Additional street entertainment was put on in a small arena area at the top end of Derby Street including from the Extreme Mountain Bike Show.
The live music in Derby Street is set to continue until around 8pm this evening.
