LEEK Park scored an emphatic 164-111 home victory over Stoke-on-Trent League leaders Dilhorne.

Man-of-the-match was Trevor Wardle (21-4) who is bowling at his best again and took the sweep.

John Turnock (21-9) collcted the second sweep and Clive Sherratt (21-16) celebrated his return with a good win.

The team travel to Wedgwood tonight (Wednesday) for another top-of-thetable clash.

The B team started well at Little Stoke Cricket Club, but the absence of several experienced players eventually took its toll.

Nigel Heath (21-11) was the only Park winner in the latter stages of the fixture, although Ian Dickin (20-21) went close.

The Park ran riot against visitors Bucknall Park in the hot sun on Saturday, running up 189 points.

Roger Alcock (21-6) edged out the 21-7 trio of Ken Holdway, Jeff Plant and Nigel Heath to claim the sweep.

For the next two weeks the first team have home games against Florence B&T I and then Barlaston Plume of Feathers, while the second team are away at Leek II and then Little Stoke.

Leek In the Congleton League, the Leek A and B teams lost both their games against Norton Central.

The A team were beaten 155-101 away and the B team went down 167-117 at home.

However, the Norton squad is strong and it was not surprising.

Alan Gayes and Joe Watson-Lazowski managed to win away, while at home Pat Alcock won and Dave Ferns scored 20 chalks..

The C team had the strange experience of losing the match at Knypersley whilst winning six of the eight games.

The D team lost narrowly at home to Leek Park 131-140 with good wins for Margaret Bailey and Katy Scragg. In the Veterans League Division A, Leek A recorded a maximum score of 168 at home to Cricket Club B - their first maximum of the season.

The B team, away at Swettenham, had a decent score of 137-162 on a very fast green. The three Leek winners were Don Wood, Margaret Wood and Fred Pogmore.

The C team narrowly saw off Railway at home, with the best results from Margaret Perkin and Margaret Bailey in a run of good form.

The Stoke-on-Trent League A team received Fox’s of Uttoxeter in Division Three and had a good result, with six winners a narrow loss and a not so narrow loss.

The younger brigade of Joe Watson- Lazowski and Chris Plant did well, as did some of the more venerable members.

The B team visited Bucknall Private, a green not so familiar to some members, and narrowly overcame the hosts 145- 137.

It a good result with Dave Stephenson returning the best card.

In the Staffordshire Ladies League Division One, Leek A visited Clough Hall and managed five winners out of seven in a 136-109 win.

The B team were at Meir Kings Arms and another away win resulted, 120-112, with big wins for Bel Naylor and Brenda Trafford.

This is a new green to which Meir have relocated and conditions are tricky - but also for the home team it seems.

In the Uttoxeter League Division One, Leek A had a heavy defeat at the Bradley House Club, winning only one doubles match and two singles through Margaret Wood and Maureen Turner.

In Division Two, Leek B team overcame Jubilee A at Beggars Lane 216-157, thus completing the double having won the away fixture 215-197.

But for a couple of doubles reversals the result would have been outstanding over the two fixtures.
