THIS year's Leek Shield final saw Biddulph Town Diamonds face Railway Inn at Ball Haye Green. Railway went ahead from a free kick, which Ollie Newton hit low into the bottom corner of the net, and then doubled their lead minutes before the break, following a goalmouth scramble, which resulted in Newton grabbing a second goal. Biddulph rallied at half time and within a minute of the re-start they clawed a goal back through Reece Smith.

Valiant Troggs 9 Leek Snooker Centre 0

IN the J W Howson Cup quarter-final Leek Snooker Centre had the mammoth task of taking on Valiant Troggs.

Snooker Centre got thumped 7-1 in the league back in November. Troggs registered another emphatic victory, the rout being started by Mitch Cartlidge from the penalty spot after just eight minutes.

Edwin Ellis made it 2-0 after 15 minutes and got a second goal before half-time.

The second half saw Ellis complete his hat-trick, while Mike Mike Keates got a brace and Josh Johnson, James Floyd and Jack Bowyer added to the scoresheet.

Troggs face Elmo's in the semi-final next Sunday with the winners going on to play Valiant in the final.

Waterhouses 1 Hare & Gate Strollers 0

The final game in Group B of the Subsidiary Cup saw both teams needing a victory to ensure further progress. Due to work commitments Waterhouses were struggling to raise a team and started with only 10 men. With a full eleven players on the pitch Waterhouses grew in stature game and just before the half-hour mark they went ahead from a corner kick. Bryan Mycock lost his marker to score what proved to be the winning goal.

Elmo's Celtic 4 Wellington 0

Elmo's Celtic were looking to further extend their unbeaten run in the league and were in confident mood having already beaten Wellington 2-0 in the league and thrashed them 10-1 in the J W Howson Cup.

Kieran Scotland put Elmo's ahead by firing into the top corner of the net and Mitch Shenton made it 2-0 from the penalty spot before half-time. In the 70th minute Jamie Pointon latched on to a through ball to to score Elmo's and wit only five minutes remaining Scotland made it four. a.
