The new Waitrose store in Leek is now open.

After four weeks of refurbishment works to turn the former Co-op store off Buxton Road into a Waitrose, Leek Town Mayor John Fisher was invited to officially open the store this morning at 8am.

Around 30 customers were queuing at the doors of the store for the opening and Leek women Joyce Williams and Diane Donohue were the first in-line.

Opening branch manager Becky Wollam presented the pair with a bottle of champagne and bunch of flowers each to mark the ocassion.
