LEEK ASC swimmers put in a strong performance at the recent Derventio eXcel 8th Long Course Open Meet, held at the 50m Ponds Forge International Pool.
In total, nine swimmers represented their club at this highly competitive level one event.
Many swimmers achieved personal best times in their swims, and six swimmers achieved top 10 positions.
Eleanor Cartlidge was placed fifth and sixth in the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley; Molly Findler third, fourth and sixth 200m individual medley, 200m butterfly, and 100m breaststroke; Abbie Hulbert fifth and eighth 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley; Jensen Hulbert fourth 50m butterfly; Joseph McGourlay achieved seventh 400m individual medley; and Alesia Sollaku achieved sixth 200m backstroke.
Other team members swimming at the event were Zara Bailey, David Fryer Winder, and Eden Schiller.
Leek head coach Geoff Summerfield said: "Level one meets are incredibly tough and the competition at this level is stiff, so for the swimmers to be in the top 10 is a worthy result.
"Long course is also the toughest of meets, so for swimmers to achieve personal bests is again a really good achievement.
"Three swimmers – Lesi Sollaku in the 200m backstroke, Eleanor Cartilidge in the 400 free and Abbie Hulbert in the 100m butterfly – also gained regional times.
"With these, and our results from previous meets, we are on target for the best age group regional meet to date."
