SWIMMERS are to cross the English Channel – in Leek.
This year is the tenth annual charity Swimathon to be organised by the Rotary Club of Leek. Keele University are marking the anniversary with an attempt to swim 20 miles, the equivalent of the English Channel, for Arthritis Research.
The Keele Haulers have raised £12,000 over the last nine years through the Swimathon which this year is to take place at Brough Park Leisure Centre, Leek on Saturday. Other local teams will represent Scout groups, primary schools, Leek Amateur Swimming Club and Rotary families.
