Blue Moon has reopened its doors in Stanley Street after being in the neighbouring town of Ashbourne for a year.

Business owner Diane Butler, pictured, had originally opened up the fancy dress shop in Getliffe's Yard off Derby Street in August 2009, but decided to relocate to Ashbourne last January.

Mrs Butler, aged 59, said: “We have now come back to Leek as we have missed it so much.

“It was also because our customers had asked us to come back.” Diane has initially signed a 12-month lease on the former Flashback building, but hopes to renew it at the end of that term.

She said: “It’s a nice atmosphere in this area and having a shop window, unlike before, is good so that people can see what you have on offer.

“Business is going okay so far and people are popping in and saying they are happy that we have opened up in Leek again.” Diane, a mother of two and grandmother of three, added: “We have a wide range of costumes and accessories for sale and if we haven’t got what the customer wants, we can get it for them.

“We are also developing a Facebook page, and in time will be setting up a website for the business.” Blue Moon, which reopened in Leek on February 13, is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am until 5pm.

It is one of the many independent businesses taking part in the Totally Locally Fiver Fest by offering £5 off any adult costume.
