CARING for Others was the theme of a special assembly held at a rural school.

St Bartholomew's Primary School in Longnor held the event on Friday to coincide with Mothers Day and Fairtrade fortnight.

Headteacher Sue Evans said: “We held a Mothers’ Day assembly with the theme Caring for Other, which involves mothers and Fairtrade producers.

“The children really enjoyed the event, which was well attended by parents and children."

The event was also attended by Heather Fryer-Winder of Sainsbury’s, who presented each pupil with a pack of goods which included word searches, leaflets and balloons.

Heather said: “I gave a talk about Fairtrade and how to look for the symbol. Also how Fairtrade involves the growers and producers. The children were very enthusiastic and very positive regarding the topic.”
