Man 'stalked X Factor star mother'

A man is due to go on trial accused of stalking the mother of X Factor winner Joe McElderry.

Ennis McBride, 52, of Rostrevor Road, Stockport, Greater Manchester, will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court charged with harassment.

McBride was charged after Eileen Joyce complained to police that she was followed by a suspicious man in an Asda supermarket in South Shields, South Tyneside, on Christmas Eve last year.

The trial is due to last for two days.

McElderry won the X Factor in 2009 and has gone on to win ITV's Popstar To Operastar.
