Man remanded on boy stabbing charge
A 51-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a four-year-old boy who was found in the street with stab wounds.
Steve Frogg, of Frederick Street, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, was remanded in custody after a brief hearing at the town's magistrates' court.
His alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found seriously injured in Mansfield on Monday afternoon.
He is conscious and in a stable condition at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, police said.
Frogg will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on April 25.
Frogg, dressed in a white T-shirt and dark trousers, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth, and to indicate that he understood the proceedings.
The public gallery was empty for the two-minute hearing.
