A PUB landlord has made a big leap of faith – from 200 feet – in aid of charity.
Bob Bettany, the landlord at The Old Royal Oak in Buxton Road, Leek, was the first to take the plunge when his pub hosted a bungee jump evening on Friday.
Mr Bettany admitted: “It was horrible. I didn't enjoy it at all, but I did it and I'm glad. I may host another charity bungee jump but I won't be taking part next time.”
A total of six people, four men and two women, took part in the bungee jump, which was staged in the car park of the Buxton Road pub.
Although the final figure is yet to be calculated, it is looking like the jumpers raised more than £500, which is set to be donated to the area’s Air Ambulance.
Mr Bettany added: “I would like to thank everyone who had a go at the bungee jump, as well as everyone who supported us. Rob Ratcliffe did extremely well in getting lots of sponsors for his jump.”
The next special event to be held at the pub is a family fun day on Easter Sunday, when Mr Bettany is hoping to get a bouncy castle and face-painters.
