A CELEBRATION of a New Ministry took place in the Mid Churnet Valley on Sunday, February 24.

St Werburgh’s Church, Kingsley, was the venue when The Right Reverend Geoff Annas, Bishop of Stafford, licensed Reverend Carol Richardson as Rector of Kingsley and Foxt-with-Whiston and Oakamoor-with-Cotton.

The Rural Dean Reverend Stephen Osborne welcomed parishioners from the area and the Patron of St Werburgh’s, a member of the Beech family, Nicola Faulkner and her husband, who travelled to be part of the festivities.

The Arch Deacon, Reverend Godfrey Stone also took part in the service which was based on the five parts of the Lichfield Diocesan vision ‘Growing the Kingdom’. Many clergy from the area supporting Reverend Carol.

The Bishop thanked the Readers, St Werburgh’s Church and School Choirs and Rebecca Littlehales, who played a reflective piece on the flute.

After the service everyone was invited to St Werburgh's School for refreshments, which were provided by the congregations of the five churches.

Reverend Carol was presented with a cake made by Carol Davies from Foxt, as well as Flowers and other gifts from friends and members of the Benefice.
