Police have arrested an 18-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of criminal damage.
He has been bailed, pending further inquiries, to a date next month (April).
Police had issued an appealing for witnesses following a spate of damage to vehicles on an estate in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.
Sixteen (16) reports of damaged vehicles have been received by police so far.
Vandals caused damage to tyres and wing mirrors overnight Saturday/Sunday (March 9/10) in the area of Linwood Way, Grayshott Road, Linda Road, Greenfield Road and Westbourne Drive.
It is believed they used sharp instruments to puncture the tyres.
An investigation into the spate is now underway by officers, who are pursuing lines of inquiry including ongoing house-to-house visits and gathering CCTV footage from the locality.
A report of criminal damage at the Corner Stores, on Furlong Road, is also being investigated.
The front window of the shop was smashed in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone with information on the incidents, or who may know those responsible.
Inspector Rob Taylor, from Stoke-on-Trent North Local Policing Team (LPT), said: “This appears to be a mindless act of vandalism carried out by offenders who have randomly targeted vehicles in this area of Tunstall.
“We received a number of reports from residents who got up to find damage caused to their vehicle.
"They now have to get their vehicle repaired, causing them unnecessary cost and inconvenience.
“High-visibility patrols have been stepped up by local officers in the area to reassure residents and continue with inquiries.
"We would like to hear from anyone with information about these incidents.
“Such acts of criminal damage and general anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated by Staffordshire Police and the appropriate action will be taken against those found to be responsible.”
