Men - Presidents Day

A FULL field supported John Carr in his year as Leek president.

After a wet and miserable morning, the weather picked up and provided some good playing conditions, reflected in the scoring at the end of the day.

Carr said afterwards: "It is very humbling to see so many people support the club on a day like this and it's a day I will remember for a very long time."

The 2's competition run by the pro's shop was won by Barbara Burgess, who achieved a two on the seventh.

The club made two trips to the Open. The ladies took a minibus tour to the Ladies Open at Royal Birkdale and then a coach trip was organised to the practice day at Hoylake, where Leek played host to a group of touring children from Spain.

The children have been having golf lessons at Leek while on their two-week tour.
