Afterwards, 19 ladies joined 2014 captain Karen Griffiths for a dinner to celebrate the occasion.

On welcoming the past captains, Karen said it was a pleasure to dine with ladies who were held in such high esteem, especially those who were no longer playing 18 holes of golf.

She also gave personal apologies of those past lady captains unable to attend.

After losing their second match of year away to The Chase 8-4, the men's first team fielded a strong line-up for the return clash, with the highest handicap being four

Dunc Stott and 'Mr Captain' stormed to a six and four victory.

Phil Davies/Dan Smart, Ross Salmon/Rob Furmston and Warren Alcock/Jim Wilshaw also recorded impressive four and three wins.

Dan Bourne/Chris Flavell, and Liam Hancock/Gareth Salt completed the 12-0 whitewash with two and one victories.

The second team lost 10-2 at Uttoxeter which is a historically tough venue.

Rob Thompson and Tony Lovatt lost on the last hole, which turned out to be a recurring theme.

Rich Cordon and Zulf Khafila got a half again, scoring the point on the last hole.

Lincoln Boulton and Andy Tooth lost to a young player, who was two gross for the last 11 holes.

Mark Shea and Matt Lancaster secured a half on the last, while Ross Martin/Paul Brass and Elliott Nadin/Mike Andrews all fell victim to the 18th hole curse.
