Artists and designers studying at Buxton and Leek College will be showing off their creativity at a two-day exhibition this weekend.
Photography, paintings and prints created by Foundation Degree Art and Design students will be exhibited and sold at the two-day Art In The Park event, running at Leek's Brough Park, on Saturday (May 10) and Sunday.
And, for students working towards their BTEC Extended Diploma in Art & Design, the event has given them a live project to work on in designing posters advertising the event's home-made cakes and drinks on sale at the park's bowling pavilion through friends of Brough Park.
Course leader Anne-Lise Fraser said: "As well as encouraging creativity at Buxton and Leek College, we aim to encourage our students to develop their professional networking and live events skills. Art in the Park is a great way of developing their entrepreneurial skills.
"Students need to learn to do their own promotion.
"Exhibitions, like this community event, are good practice for when they have finished their studies and need to take part in such events independently."
The weekend event, which runs from 11am until 5pm on Saturday and from 10am until 4pm on Sunday, will feature local artists and artisans selling their work, live music in the park's bandstand, children's activities, a plant sale at neighbouring John Hall Gardens and a photographic exhibition by Leek Photographic Society as well as demonstrations from craftspeople including Leek Spinners, Weavers and Dyers.
