I WOULD be grateful if you would kindly give coverage once again in the remaining days leading up to and on the day, for 'Leek Club Day' which will take place on Saturday 12th July.
Waterhouses Methodist Church is the leading church this year, who are leading the proceedings for the very first time and they have chosen as their theme 'Jesus-the Light of the World'.
The service in the Market Place will be led by the Reverend Michael Etheridge.
Once again 11 churches will be taking part in our annual festival.
In recent years there has been nearly 1000 people in the procession as well as hundreds of people watching and this year we are hoping to beat that 1000 walkers mark.
Leek Club Day is a multi-church Christian Festival in our town organised by a committee whose members attend churches in Leek and the surrounding area.
Leek Club Day has seen many changes in its over 200 year history and we, as like so many organisations has had to adapt to modern society.
Leek Club Day starts with modern praise music in the Market Place, led by Moorlands Praise, starting at 1:30pm and, as the crowds start to gather, the churches, schools and groups process into the centre from their various churches, starting to arrive at about 2:20pm.
When everyone has gathered the short open-air service starts, at about 2:30pm.
By 3:00pm the main procession will start to leave the Market Place, turning right into Stockwell Street and so on round the town.
Your help with publicising our festival helps tremendously in reducing the inevitable disruption to traffic.
There will be a Market Place Closure Order which will come into effect on Friday 11th July from 6 pm until Saturday 12th July at 4 pm and Road Closure Orders in place Saturday 12th July from 1 pm until 4 pm.
Diversion routes avoiding the town centre will be in operation and clearly sign-posted.
We are liaising with the police, local authorities and their contractors to minimise any disruption but we are sorry for any delays that may occur.
A sincere thank you for the publicity you have given to our festival over the years, which helped to arouse interest and promote our annual event
I have included a programme which you might find helpful, and if you require any further information please contact me.
