More than 100 hair and beauty students from two college campuses will come together for the first time to compete in an annual show of talent.
Buxton's historic Devonshire Dome will be the setting for a catwalk show on Sunday, May 18, featuring the work of students from both Buxton and Leek College campuses. With both the Leek and Buxton Colleges now forming part of the University of Derby, the competition has been expanded to take in trainees from both towns who will compete against each other in 14 different categories.
Contestants will each have just half an hour to interpret a theme in front of a panel of judges and a live audience, showing off their skills in hair and make-up.
Themes range from 'Twisted Ways' featuring hair plaiting and twisting to 'Vintage Delight' giving make-up artists the chance to use their imagination to produce a sophisticated vintage look on a live model.
The competition starts at 12.15pm and, following judging by a panel of experts, prizes will be presented to winners in each category from 4.45pm.
Light refreshments will be available to show visitors who are welcome to attend the event.
Course leader Sheila Hughes said: "All are invited to come along and view the show free of charge and we consider all our contestants to be winners by showing the courage and confidence to enter the competition. We know as a team only too well how it feels to try and impress friends, colleagues and peers.
"Competition this year will be all the more exciting because students in Buxton will be competing against those from our other campus in Leek as well as against their own course mates."
