Police officers are appealing for witnesses after a crane valued at more than £150,000 was stolen from Cheadle.

The incident took place between 12am to 12.30am on Monday January 6 when offender forced entry to an industrial unit at Brookhouse industrial estate, situated in Brookhouse Way.

The stolen crane, which was in the process of being painted, is a Mercedes Actos tractor unit with a 'pafinger' crane fitted to the rear.

The crane cab is white with the back painted maroon. The 100 tonne crane itself is orange and as no mud guards or visor above the windscreen and part of the grill is missing.

Thieves also stole fuel from a cement mixer and forced entry to a neighbouring unit where they stole trade registration plates and caused damage to a HGV.

An investigation into the incidents is underway and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 90 of January 6.

Alternatively, they can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
