THROUGHOUT February the John Pointon Sports and Recreation Facility in Cheddleton is running an event called the Lap of Life.
For the event, the facility is asking everyone to do one lap on the site's 454 metre long jogging track, and donate just one pound to raise vital funds for the Cheddleton and Wetley Rocks Emergency First Responders.
The event is open to the young or old; you do not need to be a runner or athlete to take part and you can run, walk or bike the one lap in your own time.
Everyone who completes the lap can sign the big thank you card and all money raised, along with the thank you card, will be presented to The Cheddleton and Wetley Rocks Emergency First Responders in March.
John Barratt, Facility Manager, said: "I hope people come from all over the area to take part, especially families and those connected to running clubs and sports clubs, the responders do such a great job for the community and its our way of saying thank you."
The facility is open every day from dawn until dusk and the pavilion is open to sign the card and to donate your pound from 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12 noon both Saturday and Sunday.
The address is Felthouse Lane Cheddleton ST13 7BT. Call Mr Barratt on 07976 598095 for more details.
