Lady bowls players have a ball

RYAN Holroyd (Staffordshire Moorlands AC) won the annual Christmas Cracker race at Meerbrook on Sunday.

He completed the eight-mile course around The Roaches in a time of 51 minutes 45 seconds.

First lady runner to finish was Emma Gould (Mercia), who clocked 1:01:33 to come tenth overall.

BOWLS

LEEK Park Ladies celebrated promotion to the first division of the Staffordshire County Ladies Bowling Association at their annual presentation evening.

Trophies went to the following at the event held at the Red Lion, Cheddleton:

Club averages

1st team: Margaret Perkin, runner-up Elsie Alcock.

Second team: Rita Rowley.

Intra-club competition winners

Shenton Shield (singles): Patsy Allen.

Prince of Wales (doubles ): Margaret Perkin and Barbara White.

Second team captain Carol Perkin said: "We have welcomed new bowlers to Brough Park this year and look forward to the start of the next bowls season, beginning in April."

CRICKET

CHEADLE Cricket Club will hold its annual meeting in the pavilion on Sunday, December 29, at 2pm. Members old and new members are welcome to attend.
