THE committee of Whiston Village Hall is scavenging for scrap metal next week.

As part of the constant upgrading and modernisation of the hall, the committee has this year invested in Solar Panels.

To make the most of the benefits this gives, the premises now need to upgrade the type of heaters they have.

This will enable even winter meetings to be much warmer and more inviting.

But to do this, a spokesman said the committee desperately needs more funds so this years' village 'scrap day' was a perfect way to start this off.

People with any scrap metal are urged not to think anything is too small to count as it all mounts up.

This includes pots and pans, bikes, prams, radiators, taps, mowers and motors.

A spokesman said: "Bring it down to the hall and we can unload it.

"You may even spot someone else's scrap that you would like, no reasonable offer refused.

"Alternatively we will collect locally."

The scrap day will be held on Saturday, July 19, between 9am and midday

For collection please ring/text James 07866 676547 or Carol on 07990 876233.

The committee cannot accept fridges, freezers, TVs or computers.
