A GROUP of table tennis players are bouncing with joy following an offer of financial support.

The group, which involves people from Whiston, Bradnop and Kingsley, meets at Whiston Village Hall on Monday mornings.

They applied for a grant from Your Housing Group to help buy new tables and have been successful.

At present the group comprises mainly of retired people, but all ages and abilities are welcome and no previous experience is necessary.

Your Housing Group panel member, George Abberley, has now handed over a cheque for £250 to John Steele of Whiston Village Hall Committee.

Mr Abberley said: "Your Housing Group is pleased to support an initiative that encourages villagers to take part in a health promoting activity in a friendly and supportive community environment."

Anyone from surrounding villages wishing to join the group should contact Ivan Kent on 01538 266011.
