POLICE have urged people to make sure that their purses are not on show when out shopping.
Last Wednesday an elderly person had their purse stolen while in a charity shop in Derby Street, Leek.
The purse was later recovered, but all the cash had been taken.
A police spokesman said that elderly people were being targeted for such crimes.
He added: "We urge people to be on guard when in shops and that they do not have their purses on view."
